Praying In The Spirit

What does it mean to pray in the Spirit? What does that phrase “in the Spirit” even mean? John was caught up in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and we can have joy in the Spirit and pray in the Spirit.
Simply put, “in the Spirit” means under the leadership of, and in co-union with, the Holy Spirit. So to pray in the Spirit means to pray under the leadership of the Holy Spirit and in co-union with Him.
There’s an incorrect doctrinal teaching that praying in the Spirit IS praying in tongues, but that just isn’t true. You can pray in tongues while in the Spirit, but it doesn’t define praying in the Spirit. There’s so much more to praying in the Spirit than just praying in tongues. Tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit, and Paul himself says we don’t all have the same gifts. So if someone isn’t gifted with tongues, but they are clearly baptized in the Holy Spirit and operating in other gifts, how do you think they’d feel if they believed they could never pray in the Spirit unless they prayed in tongues?
In Ephesians 6:18 Paul says, “praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication…”
He didn’t say praying at all times in the Spirit in tongues. Instead he said with all prayer and supplication. All prayer and supplication is every prayer in whatever language you speak…and sometimes that includes tongues.
Many believe Jude 20 is saying to pray in tongues when it says “and praying in the Holy Spirit”, but if you go back to Paul’s teaching praying in the Spirit includes all prayer and supplication.

There are many things as believers that we do in the Spirit. We connect with the Father in the Spirit. We rejoice in the Spirit. We love in the Spirit. We walk in the comfort of the Spirit, and so much more. Everything we do as believers should be in the Spirit.
We are to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh (Galatians 5:16). If we are to walk in the Spirit so we don’t gratify the deeds of the flesh then praying in the Spirit is praying the will of God and not praying selfish, fleshly prayers. If a believer is surrendered to God as a living sacrifice his/her prayers won’t be selfish, fleshly prayers, but will be prayers in the Spirit…prayers in the will of God.
We can all pray God’s will in our own language if we are praying under the leadership of, and in co-union with, the Holy Spirit. Praying with Him is praying in the Spirit. I for one am very thankful I can pray with Him and commune with Jesus and my Father in my own language that I understand. Understanding what’s being said is the only way you can build a relationship with God. Communion is a two-way street, and the Bible says I have access to my Father through Jesus by the Spirit (Ephesians 2:18). If I’m not in the Spirit I’m not able to commune with Him in my own language.

Now, I’m not knocking tongues. If you are truly gifted in tongues it is beautiful to hear, and it’s a beautiful gift just like every other gift of the Holy Spirit. Just like any of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, though, there is a counterfeit. Yes, there are counterfeit tongues. There are demonic tongues, and there are fleshly tongues where people try to speak in tongues because they feel the pressure to have the gift of tongues, but it’s not real. Neither of these are done in the Spirit.
That pressure comes in large part because there are churches that teach that speaking in tongues is the sign that you have the baptism of the Holy Spirit. If that were the case Paul wouldn’t have taught the opposite…that not all have the same gifts, and he includes tongues as one of those gifts.

Is it true when the Holy Spirit was poured out at Pentecost that they all spoke in different tongues? Yes, but it wasn’t an unknown Heavenly prayer language. It was languages of other ethnic groups that were in the city of Jerusalem that day so they could hear the Gospel. I believe that is a very different scenario altogether than having a Heavenly prayer language, and the Scriptures are clear that these were other ethnic languages and not a Heavenly prayer language. I believe they all spoke in different ethnic tongues that day for the sake of the Gospel.
I believe at any given moment a believer baptized in the Holy Spirit could start speaking in a different ethnic tongue as needed as the Holy Spirit gives utterance. You may speak it once and never speak it again, but someone who didn’t understand your language would’ve heard the Gospel or received a message from God through you in that moment.
Whether you speak in a different ethnic tongue at the Holy Spirit’s leadership, or you pray in a Heavenly tongue, or you pray in your own language may it all be “in the Spirit”. Prayer and intercession in any language is a must. Prayer is a weapon against the enemy, and we need to pray without ceasing.

I did not start out writing with the plan to write about tongues, but this is what the Holy Spirit does…He writes what He wants instead of what I thought I would write. Prayer and intercession is a passion of mine. We need Communion with Him. It’s vital to our survival and the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Stripping Principalities of Their Power

Territorial spirits on the ground and in the air…demons and principalities. My dream and vision encounters have gone to a whole new level. I’ve been encountering these territorial spirits. We have authority over the demons on the ground, but how do we battle the principalities in the air where we have no authority? The Scripture clearly teaches that we wrestle with them.

Ephesians 6:12, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the worldly forces of this darkness, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

I think we find a clue in Luke 10:19, “Behold, I have given you authority to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”
‭‭
Serpents and scorpions are demonic spirits here on the ground that are under our feet. We have the authority to trample on them and take them down, but here we see that we have authority over ALL the power of the enemy. The principalities in the air are our enemies, but this passage says we have authority over ALL their power, not them. So how do we take out principalities? We have to strip them of their power. How do we do that? We take down their stronghold of lies that’s been built. We do that with truth.

Before we can take down their strongholds we must first have ourselves protected. The first thing we must do is have every piece of the Armor of God on (Ephesians 6:10-18). Principalities wield witchcraft through the airways attacking our minds and bodies, and we need to be protected. Without the Armor of God we leave ourselves open to attacks. So to secure ourselves as we go forward we must put on every piece of Armor.
The first piece listed is the Belt of Truth. The truth of the Word of God is how we combat the lies of these principalities. WE MUST KNOW THE WORD OF GOD!!!
The second piece is the Breastplate of Righteousness. This breastplate protects our heart. We are made righteous in Christ at salvation, and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit to purify our hearts and minds is an ongoing work that changes our heart to a heart surrendered to God instead of a selfish heart. He gives us a heart of Holiness, Righteousness and Purity.
The third piece is the Boots of Peace. We are to walk in readiness with the Good News of peace. We need to be walking in peace at all times. We stay in peace by strapping on the Good News of the Gospel.
The fourth piece is the Shield of Faith. It’s with our faith in God and His Word that we can quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. If we believe the truth of the Gospel and have faith in what it says we can put it up against any fiery dart and quench them.
The fifth piece is the Helmet of Salvation. This helmet protects our minds. If we’ve accepted Christ as our Savior then we need to walk in our identity in Christ as a child of God knowing who we are, and that nothing can harm us. We can walk around saved by the blood of Jesus and struggle with our identity in Him leaving our minds wide open to attack. We must wear our helmet believing who the Scripture says we are in Christ.
The sixth piece is the Sword of the Spirit which is the word (rhema) of God. The word for “word” here is rhema which means the voice of God that we can hear is a weapon against the enemy. If you’re a believer and you don’t hear the voice of the Lord then get alone with Him and listen. Cultivate a relationship with Him where you can hear Him speaking to you. That’s a piece of your Armor.

Once we are fully armored and protected we can march forward on the ground and take out their strongholds and strip them of their power by sharing the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

As I said earlier, I have been encountering these territorial spirits. The Father showed me the stronghold of witchcraft over our area of Florida this morning. It was a very large area covering several counties, and it was covered up in heavy witchcraft. I first encountered a territorial demon in a dream that I ended up grabbing by the throat and taking him to the ground commanding him to leave in the name of Jesus.
I then started encountering the principalities over this area. I entered a new level of warfare that made demons look like nothing. They challenged me to a fight in the air which I knew I had no authority over in the air. God has repeatedly told me to keep my Armor on and the importance of knowing the Word of God and resisting the witchcraft that comes from them through the air.
James 4:7 says, “Therefore submit to God. But resist the devil and he will flee from you.” Jesus combated Satan with Scripture and resisted his temptation. We can resist the attacks of these principalities with Scripture, but we need to strip them of their power over this territory.
As I already mentioned, the truth combats the lie and takes them down one piece at a time, but we need a strong move of God to set this territory free. We need to come together as the Body of Christ marching forward with one purpose…to set our territory free of the witchcraft and territorial spirits that rule this area. We need to intercede and cry out for Revival so the Gospel can reach the masses. We need a move of God.
That deep cry came out of me this morning in intercession after seeing this thick, heavy stronghold of witchcraft over our area. I cried out over and over begging God to come and move here in Revival so we can be set free. We need that Great Light to shine in deep darkness. We need the Glory of God. (Isaiah 60)
The Body of Christ across all denominational lines needs to come together to take this territory for the Lord so we can rule His Kingdom with Him here on this earth. As it currently stands our territory is under heavy satanic rule, but one move of God sweeping through can change everything. I’ve seen the revival. I’ve seen the masses across the city of Stuart coming in throngs to an outdoor revival. I’ve seen it over and over. A strong wind of the Holy Spirit blew through, and an outpouring started. My heart longs for this move to come, and I will pray and intercede for this move until it comes. I know it’s coming. Who will suit up and join me?

The Greatest Depression

The Greatest Depression
3/29/23

I received this word from the Lord this morning…

He started talking about the days of darkness laying ahead of us. He said, “The days of darkness ahead will be the greatest depression this world has ever seen.”

He then said, “As the US goes so the whole world goes. Before the United States was born the world went through times of trial and tribulation”, but went on to say again that this will be the greatest depression this world has ever seen, and the greatest our nation has ever seen.

He said, “It will be greater than the Great Depression.” He has spoken this to me numerous times through words/dreams/visions. I had a dream in March of the Great Depression, but it was today and it was much worse, and people would have to shoot the rabbits in their front yards to have food to eat.

He then started speaking of this season being a transition. He likened it to the transition phase of labor and this being the transition that brings the labor pains that birth the sons of God.
He said, “This season of darkness is the transition into hard labor so the sons and daughters of God can be born.”

“For I consider the sufferings of this present time not worthy to be compared with the coming glory to be revealed to us.
For the creation eagerly awaits the revelation of the sons of God.
For the creation was subjected to futility—not willingly but because of the One who subjected it—in hope
that the creation itself also will be set free from bondage to decay into the glorious freedom of the children of God.
For we know that the whole creation groans together and suffers birth pains until now—
and not only creation, but even ourselves. We ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Ruach, groan inwardly as we eagerly wait for adoption—the redemption of our body.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭18‬-‭23‬ ‭TLV‬‬

I don’t know about you, but I groan inwardly for Home. I had a dream this morning and saw the sky opened up, and the most beautiful, glorious City was on the other side, and there was a “welcome home” angel to take me home. I then received this word, “Don’t get so focused on going home that you forget to live here.”
I think all who know Jesus deeply long for Heaven. That glorious City is waiting for each one who know Him, but it’s easy to get our eyes focused on Heaven with all the sadness and destruction and evil around us, and we tend to lose focus on our mission here.
Those of us who are alive here on the earth have a mission to help bring home a fulness of the sons and daughters of God. Especially with the days laying ahead of us we need to keep our focus on what God is doing on the earth and be ready at His beck and call to fulfill our purpose and plan that He has for each one of us.

Cinnamon & Holiness

Cinnamon. This has been a common theme between the Father and I. Periodically we have discussions about how much we both love Cinnamon and how it’s our favorite. This morning He brought it up again. He quickly reminded me of how Cinnamon is our favorite, and then He explained why Cinnamon is His favorite.
He said the reason it’s His favorite is because the Cinnamon in the anointing oil represents being at Jesus’ feet in humility, surrender and obedience to Jesus, the Word of God. In a nutshell, Cinnamon represents Holiness. Holiness always has been and always will be at the very heart of God. We can’t walk with the Father without it, and being at the feet of Jesus produces it in us. This is why Mary of Bethany was remembered by Jesus in His Word. She sat at His feet and anointed His feet with expensive oil from a container she broke open and spilled out upon His feet.
We are the container with the expensive oil that we are to break open and anoint His feet with. We are to be broken and spilled out for Jesus unto Jesus. This act of contrition allows Him to produce Holiness in us and transform us. This is the Father’s favorite. This is why He loves Cinnamon. It produces Holiness.

This is from http://www.heavenlyoils.com…

“Stripped cinnamon barks are carefully packed in layers, one inside the other, to produce long, rolled and layered upright “quills.” Ps 23:3b “He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” – The paths referred to here indicates a circular track or path or rampart. This fragrance speaks of “layers” of righteousness, increased holiness. Yeshua’s life is our example of perfect holiness before the Father. Through His holiness we are made holy. He lived and walked blameless in speech and all He did. Titus 1:8 “…he (an overseer) must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.”

He then showed me that this is how you get to know Him…the Father. Everything starts and ends with Jesus. If we want to know the Father we must first know Jesus. If we want to see the Father we must first see Jesus. Jesus is the Way to the Father. Jesus is how we understand the Father. Without Jesus we can’t know, see or understand the Father. Jesus said Himself that He came to show us the Father. (John 14:8-21) He said, “If you have seen Me you have seen the Father.”

If you want to know the Father you’ve got to spend time at the feet of Jesus. At Jesus’ feet is where you not only get to know Jesus, but you also get to know the Father. This is where it starts.

The Scripture lists Cinnamon as one of the principal ingredients in the Holy Anointing oil.
“Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels.” Exodus 30:23.

Myrrh represents death. Jesus went through a gruesome death on our behalf so we could be saved from an eternal hell. For us it represents a death to sin and a dying to self.

Calamus represents the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. For us it represents being raised from eternal death in hell to eternal life in Heaven with Jesus and the Father. Hallelujah!

And guess what’s in the middle of death and resurrection? Holiness! A life of Holiness is required. Myrrh, Cinnamon and Calamus. These are the three principal ingredients in the Holy Anointing oil, and they were written in that order because that’s how it must be. There is no other way.

My heart’s cry is Holiness. The Father requires it. Do you want to know the Father? Get to know Jesus, and He will lead you to the Father. Pour yourself out on Jesus like Mary poured out the oil at His feet. Sit at His feet and learn from Him. Holiness will be produced in you if you humble yourself, surrender and be obedient to Jesus.
